In August 2024, workers’ unions in Laguna province in the Phillippines received intimidation and threats after staging a caravan to protest recent instances of unfair labour practices and union suppression. Workers from Philfoods Fresh Baked Products, Inc. and Kareila Management Corporation participated in the caravan, primarily to air their concerns about “worsening conditions for workers in the Southern Tagalog region.” Union members have reported cases of harassment from agents of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac)
