OCP (Office Chérifien des Phosphates) was founded in 1920 for phosphate mining and fertiliser production.

The company has about 17,300 employees and had a turnover of more than 9 billion dollars (7.6 billion euros) last year.

OCP operates four mines in Khouribga, Benguerir, and Youssoufia in Morocco, as well as a mine in Boucraa in disputed Western Sahara.

It also owns plants in Safi and Jorf Lasfar where it processes phosphate into fertiliser, phosphoric acid and animal feed.

In total, OCP has eight sites in Morocco, and another 30 facilities around the world.
