For the present, a clarion call from the G8, the home countries of the majority of transnational companies, adjuring business to observe the principles enshrined in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and expressing willingness to observe such principles in their own commercial decisions, could assist in making companies an effective part of the solution instead of part of the problem which too many remain today.
