A representative of the Bahraini Labour and Social Development Ministry told GDN that the case was pending in the labour courts. The Bangladeshi consulate told GDN that they were aware of a number of workers filing complaints with the Labour Ministry and stated that they were trying to reach company management and the ministry to reach a solution. The company was contacted for comment by GDN; they did not reply.

Almost 80 employees working at [Jawad Business Group's] supermarkets claim they have not been paid for nine months... 60 people working in other outlets have allegedly not been paid for two to three months.
Some of the employees... said many of them had resigned – but were now stranded in Bahrain because their work visas were not renewed and their case was in court...
One former [Bangladeshi] employee said he resigned in July based on an assurance he would receive pending wages for nine months, along with other entitlements for four years of service.
Jawad Business Group did not respond to GDN requests for a comment.
