[DOC] Journalist who denunciated tortures in Majaz has received death threats [Peru]

Journalist Julio Vásquez...who denunciated the tortures occurred to a group of community members in the facilities of Majaz mining company (today Río Blanco [part of Monterrico Metals, owned by Zijin]) in Piura, in 2005. Today is subject of death threats by telephone, according to Fundación Ecuménica para el Desarrollo y la Paz (FEDEPAZ). According to...FEDEPAZ, Vásquez Calle, pointed out that he received constant death threats, on anonymous telephone calls...After he denunciated and published photographs of the tortures perpetrated by the National Police and by the security company FORZA [part of Securitas] in charge of the protection of the mining company...Vásquez...affirmed that while they were hooded, he heard a civilian say that they were tortured “by orders of (Andrew) Bristow”, he was the mining Operations Manager.
