First Quantum Minerals' response to allegation of worker fatality at Kalumbila mine

"The Company acknowledges the tragic workplace fatality that occurred on 21 June at the Sentinel Pit operated by FQM Trident Limited involving Aldridge Mutale. Any loss of life is treated with the with the utmost seriousness.

Following the incident, a formal investigation was conducted in close collaboration with the relevant authorities to understand the causes and contributing factors. The findings of this investigation informed a series of corrective and preventive measures intended to address the identified risks and strengthen safety controls across the operation.

Lessons identified through this investigation are being incorporated into our operational practices and training programmes to help prevent similar incidents in the future. First Quantum remains committed to providing a safe working environment in line with its policies and applicable standards.

The Company recognizes the impact of the incident on Mr Mutale’s family, friends and colleagues and remains committed to protecting the health and safety of its workforce."
