New Documentary Reveals Widespread Abuse of Local Workers by Chinese Construction Company in Lesotho, February 24, 2022

An investigation by the independent, non-partisan MNN Centre for Investigative Journalism in Lesotho uncovered widespread abuse by Chinese managers at the multinational Chinese construction company CNQC (中国青建) working in the small southern African country.

Workers said a lack of any oversight by the company led to rampant sexual abuse of female workers, including in some cases women being fired for refusing to accept the advances of their Chinese managers. 

The documentary also found that CNQC did not have any health and safety officers on staff prior to the death of an employee on the job and when workers protested against poor working conditions the police reportedly sided with the company.

CNQC refused the producers' request for comment on the allegations.
