MANGO's response to 'Who pays for the crisis' tracker allegations - March 2024

Concerning Crony Tex Sweater Ltd manufacturing factory, Mango produced 6.000 units for Kids division with delivery date November 2023, one month before it announced mass layoffs due to reduced orders. The payment was completed without Mango's knowledge that Crony Tex Sweater was unable to operate effectively and deliver on its contractual obligations with workers. Since then, none of Mango's divisions has placed a new order due to other business circumstances, however, it has been stated the concern for workers' wages and conditions as well as the importance of developing and implementing a remediation plan.

There has not been bond with DIRD Composite Textiles since March 2021, when, after producing one order production, it was decided not to continue the business relationship. In this case, Mango has not established communication with the factory in connection with workers' demand about the payment of arrears due to the lack of recent commercial link...

In regard to the Cambodian manufacturing factories mentioned in the report, Mango confirms that it has never produced in Quantum Clothing Group, Wanlin-Zongheng Garment Factory, T.F.G Garment, Tripos International, Shoe Premier II, Meng Do Footwear Industrial or Can Sports Shoes. The last order placed in M&V International Manufacturing was through Tien Hu supplier in October 2020 for Man division. In the same way as Mango proceed with DIRD Composite Textiles, it has not approached the factory due to the lack of recent commercial link.

In line with responsible purchasing practices, Mango started collaborating with Better Buying, an evaluation system that allows brands to identify which practices can be improved through anonymous questionnaires to suppliers. These ratings system examine 7 key categories of purchasing practices that impact working conditions: visibility, providing sufficient information about the business project so that suppliers can act; stability, offering suppliers stable and predictable business throughout the year; time, providing enough time for suppliers to complete all processes in compliance with relevant legislation and codes of conduct; finances, using fair financial practices with suppliers; and shared responsibility, promoting improvement in working conditions and environmental behavior in the supply chain. In 2023 Mango had a response ratio over 50%...
