Nigeria: House of Representatives passes minimum wage bill, which proposes increase up to 30,000 naira ($83)

"Nigeria's Lower House Proposes Minimum Wage of 30,000 Naira", 28 January 2019

Nigeria’s House of Representatives recommended increasing the minimum monthly wage by 67 percent to 30,000 naira ($83).

The lower house agreed on the proposal -- which still requires the consent of the Senate and President Muhammadu Buhari before becoming law... The Senate is not scheduled to meet again until... after Nigeria holds presidential and parliamentary elections.

The presidency said this month it would ask parliament to agree to a minimum wage of 27,000 naira for employees in the private sector and of state governments, while federal government workers would get one of 30,000 naira.
