On 9 May, police detained Oleg Vialov, an activist, who opposes the construction of a battery plant near Brest. The activist was charged with participation in an unauthorized mass event (art. 23.34 part 1 and art. 23.34 part 3 of the Administrative Code). For over two years, local residents have been protesting against the construction of the battery plant over health and environmental concerns.
