In October 2022, the headquarters of the Organización de Desarrollo de las Comunidades Fronterizas del Cenepa (ODECOFROC) in Peru was allegedly attacked by members of the Suwa Panki community who are apparently linked to illegal mining. The attack was allegedly in retaliation for the environmental defense being carried out by the organization's leaders to protect the river of the ancestral Awajún territory.

In July 2022, the organization's headquarters was also attacked.
