S. Korea: Auto manufacturer lays off 40 subcontract workers after factory closure; co. did not respond

It was reported that Daeyang Auto, an in-house subcontractor of Myoungshin, laid off about 40 workers since October 2023. A worker quoted in the article claimed that the layoffs were due to the closure of the company's Asan plant and that the work of irregular workers was being given to regular workers. The article also reported that Myoungshin was returning 8.7 billion won ($8.7 million) in local investment support from the government due to its inability to maintain the Asan plant.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre requested a response from Myoungshin; they did not respond.
