Socially Responsible Public Procurement - Information in English

The aim of SRPP is working towards requesting and overseeing legal and decent working conditions at the production units where goods with a high risk profile are manufactured. Labour intensive production in low cost countries with unstable democratic institutions often indicates high risk of breaches of international labour standards and human rights in the production process. Public buyers have the legal space and the tools needed to behave as proactive and responsible customers by ensuring that products manufactured for the public sector are produced under decent working conditions. Difi, on behaft of the Norwegian Ministry of Equality-, Children,- and Social Inclusion (BLD), has produced the guide Walk the Talk: Ensuring Sosially Responsible Public Procurement. The Guide is aimed to make SRPP a natural and integrated part of public procurement in Norway.
