...The report “Uncovering the Hidden Iceberg: A Global Perspective” includes allegations of arbitrary detention of human rights defenders, intimidations and violences by public authorities towards human rights defenders and local communities that allegedly took place in 2023.

The consortium takes this allegations seriously. The Consortium unequivocally condemns any form of violence, intimidation, arbitrary detention or retaliation against communities, community representatives or human rights defenders. Such acts are unacceptable and fundamentally incompatible with our values, principles and commitments.

The Consortium is not involved in, does not condone, and does not benefit from acts of violence or repression. The Consortium has no mandate over law enforcement activities and does not interfere with the actions of public authorities.

A Human Rights Impact Assessment will be completed as one component of the Project ESIA.
