War brings turmoil to Israel’s construction industry, poverty to Palestinians

As Israel’s offensive in Gaza continues, the wider effects of the conflict are being felt across the region. Some of that impact is economic - for example the Israeli government’s choice to fly in migrant workers from India and other countries around the world rather than employing Palestinian labourers, the vast majority of whom have not had their work permits renewed since October the 7th. That's causing a spike of poverty in the Palestinian territories and has brought Israel’s construction sector to its knees, as Catherine Norris Trent and Claire Duhamel report.
