HEMA's response to the non-payment of wages at Mim Design
Can you confirm whether the facility linked to the allegation is within your supply chain?
MIM Design was an active production location for HEMA. The last order was shipped on the 8th of February of 2023.
How are you ensuring that your purchasing practices in relation to the closure of Mim Designs and non-payment of wages to workers, meet the standard required to protect workers rights and livelihoods?
[...]
During our partnership with MIM Design and after it ended we have tried to work together on improvement. During our partnership, on several occasions (face-to-face meetings, visits, e-mails and online meetings) we have confronted management as they were in breach of our Code of conduct repeatedly.
This was part of our decision to end the partnership as we didn’t see improvement and were not in the position to improve together in a way that would benefit the worker.
We request more information on the allegation, including what your company has done to investigate it and ensure remedy for workers.
When we are not able to do our due diligence or use our leverage to positively impact workers this can lead to a responsible exit while following our commitments to the Accord - also after ending the partnership.
