In 2019, SOCFIN filed a defamation suit against Green Scenery in Sierra Leone, an environmental organization, and its executive director Joseph Rahall. SOCFIN sought damages for an article that Green Scenery published on the human rights implications of SOCFIN’s local activities. The court dismissed the case after SOCFIN failed to appear in court.
