Six employees have filed a lawsuit against Google Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of the major American IT company Google, seeking a total of 63 million yen in damages, claiming they were treated unfairly because they did not accept retirement recommendations. All six are full-time foreign workers and members of the Japan Metal Manufacturing and Information and Communications Workers' Union (JMITU).

After refusing to resign, they were transferred or had their duties changed, and their bonuses and salaries were significantly reduced. One person said they were told that if they did not resign, they would be "harassed by many people."

The workers are seeking damages, claiming that the company violated their personal rights and breached their employment contracts.

The Ben54JP reached out to Google Japan for comment, but had not received a response as of the time of writing.
