...A total of 30 people were fired, citing the bad situation they are going through due to the national crisis.

Espinosa in contact with the Media El Independiente said this morning about the dismissals of workers, “unfortunately we have been informed that the Colortex firm in the textile sector dismissed 30 people...The reason for this is due to the sharp drop in orders they have.”

She pointed out that dismissals were made without cause, “for which the company has 4 business days to pay 100 percent of the compensation...

A dismissal is always sad news for the worker and his family group, but within the legal framework, when dismissed without cause, 100 percent of the compensation is paid. The case of Colortex is different, the company did not follow the legal step that enables them to pay 50 percent, for which the workers rejected that and we are holding conciliation hearings to try to reach a meeting point so that the company improves. The 50 percent has to be paid, and negotiations are underway for the remaining 50 percent. If this does not come to a successful conclusion at this administrative headquarters, it will have to go through the judicial route. The company is clear that, as it has not filed a crisis procedure, the dismissal without cause is indisputable.”

Regarding the outlook for the sector, he said, “the measures announced by the national government are increasingly worse and less encouraging.”
