Bangladesh: Workers protest following partial-layoff announcement at factory; incl. co. response
In April 2025, it was reported that workers at two Pride Group factories, Fashion Knit Garments and HR Textile Mills, staged protests after finding a notice on their factory when they returned from the Eid holiday period, stating there would be partial layoffs. According to workers, the layoffs were announced without prior consultation. Management stated the layoffs would remain in effect until 30 April, and were due to the gas shortage, financial issues and a reduction in orders.
In July 2025, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited OVS (as a reported buyer with HR Textile Mills) and Boohoo, Mango and El Corte Ingles (as reported buyers with Fashion Knit Garments) to respond. The responses can be found below.
