Carrefour's response to BHRRC Gender-based violence & Harassment report six-month update
- In response to the findings in the report, what actions have been taken by Carrefour to identify, prevent and remediate GBVH?
"All the actions below have been taken by Carrefour to better identify, prevent and address any critical issues -including GBVH- in Tamil Nadu:
- We have deployed a "worker voice " system in the spinning mills of our main suppliers with the support of a third party to ensure an additional alert channel to help workers reach out for any grievance.
- In addition to the anonymous surveys, we launched a detailed & comprehensive social audit with additional worker interviews in the spinning mills and production units of our main suppliers whom we engage to implement Corrective Action plans when necessary. It was noted that there was no indication of a GBVH issue in these "extended" audits.
- We are also strengthening the support and follow-up of our suppliers, through frequent visits by our Carrefour local team to the factories.
2. How has Carrefour engaged with the designated stakeholder (AFWA) towards remediation, and what have been the concrete outcomes of this engagement?
"We requested several times more details about the supplier names linked with the allegations but we could not get complete information due to confidentiality reasons. We have not yet come to a conclusion on the way forward with this organization.
3. To what extent have steps taken toward remediation and prevention- if any- been decided and implemented in collaboration with the stakeholder?
