Daikin response re alleged insufficient remedy to Kawaguchi workers

Although it was reported that Kawaguchi Manufacturing, Sdn. Bhd. ("Kawaguchi") agreed to pay 251 migrant workers unpaid wages and other payments at the labor mediation on December 19, 2024, we are concerned that, given the current situation of Kawaguchi and the migrant workers, such mediation result alone does not necessarily achieve an adequate, effective and prompt remedy in this case.

In order to realize the adequate, effective, and prompt remedy in this case, Daikin, including Daikin Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., firstly provided food and medical support to the former Kawaguchi workers directly as an urgent and emergency response.

In parallel, Daikig worked together with Panasonic, Sony and RBA with regard to the repayment of recruitment fees to the workers, and it is now under distribution phase from RBA to workers.
