…The World Uyghur Congress (WUC) has filed a lawsuit in Paris against Dahua Technology France, Hikvision France and Huawei France. French human rights lawyer William Bourdon accuses the three Chinese companies of involvement in the cover-up of human trafficking, genocide and crimes against humanity, among other things…

The 45-page complaint documents how the three companies allegedly used their technology to help build a surveillance system in Xinjiang, which the Chinese government uses to control the Uyghur ethnic minority. Both Hikvision and Dahua have supplied the Chinese government with advanced surveillance technologies, including AI-powered facial recognition systems. Hikvision cameras are used around mosques and schools, on public streets and in Uyghur homes. Huawei has reportedly cooperated with the Xinjiang Public Security Bureau on a joint innovation lab focused on police technologies.

"This submission is an important reminder to all companies complicit in the Chinese government's genocide that they bear legal responsibility," said WUC President Turgunjan Alawdun. The WUC said it was confident that the French judiciary would take the case seriously…
