L’Oréal's response to allegations associated with AAL
L’Oréal is committed to upholding high environmental and human rights standards through its Human Rights, Forests and Sustainable Land Use policies, including by rolling out thorough due diligence. L’Oréal requires its suppliers to do the same. This helps us identify, prevent, and address some of the adverse Human Rights impacts we may cause, contribute or be linked to, based on our salient risks analysis. It is detailed in our various disclosures, including our annual vigilance plan, part of our Universal Registration Document, and in our Human Rights Report.

In response to the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre’s invitation to respond, L’Oréal has no direct business relationship with Astra Agro Lestari.
In line with our Forest Policy and given the seriousness of the environmental and human rights violations allegations, as soon as we received these allegations, we immediately activated our publicly available Palm Alert Procedure ( https://www.loreal.com/-/media/project/loreal/brand-sites/corp/master/lcorp/documents-media/publications/commitments/palmalert20-07-2018.pdf ). As part of our procedure, we have required our concerned direct suppliers to immediately suspend any sourcing of volumes from Astra Agro Lestari. We have continued to engage with our direct suppliers on the topic to ensure there is no connection between AAL and L'Oréal's supply chains, until the issue is resolved.
