Myanmar: Brands asked to respond to allegations of worker surveillance, restrictions on medication & unsafe working conditions at Haisheng Fashion; Incl. co. response

In July 2024, it was reported that workers at Myanmar Haisheng Fashion Garment are facing a series of violations, including workers being monitored by CCTV cameras installed in front of the restrooms, no medicine available at the factory, unclean toilets, rain leaking into the factory creating a risk of electric shock, workers unable to collect their wages because they have not been given a letter of representation, mandatory overtime without workers’ consent, workers being threatened or pressured if they don’t do overtime, excessive production targets and verbal abuse to pressure workers, denial of leave and wage deductions if workers take leave and low overtime pay.

In December 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited AlpenGroup (Tigora), Macron, Teddy Group (Terranova) and AEON (for Topvalu) to respond. Only AEON responded - the response can be found below.
