Myanmar Pongpipat's response to SLAPPs research

To: Lady Zuluaga & Christen Dobson Business & Human Rights Resource Centre

From: Kriangkrai Chavaltanpipat – Myanmar Pongpipat Company Limited

Dear Lady Zuluaga & Christen Dobson Business & Human Rights Resource Center

Greetings, we do appreciate your email and the opportunity to respond.

We also believe and respect  “A media professional shall have liberty in presenting news or expressing opinions in accordance with professional ethics as long as the media presents the actual truth facts without misleading the general public.

Yet the published statement made by Mr. Pratch Rujicanarom, the then Editor of GreenNews, misled the actual truth, especially the case at the Dawei Lower Court did not involve any issues regard “sewage and ore tailings has inundated and caused extensive damage to the property and the environment”.

Eventually, this is the second times Mr. Pratch has repeatedly and intentionally misled the public and caused damages to company’s reputation.

Beside listening only from activists, Mr. Pratch should at least realized the important role from company to respond for the actual truth before published his statement.

In another word, Mr Pratch should practice his ethical professional medias; like Business-Humanrights.org does.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kriangkrai Chavaltanpipat
