Pakistan: Court rules garment workers in Sindh are entitled to increased minimum wage

Labour advocacy groups in Pakistan have influenced a rise in statutory minimum wage for workers in the Sindh province.

Workers in sectors such as apparel manufacture will now earn 25,000 Pakistani rupee (PKR) (or US$142) per month, up from 17,500 PKR (US$100). 

IndustriALL, the National Trade Union Federation and the Home Based Women Workers’ Federation are said to have been instrumental in the legislative change, but say they won’t rest until the pay rise is extended to workers across the country...
