SABMiller - a new letter from them, the same problem for Ghanaians

SABMiller[‘s]…letter talks about their…report into their operations in Ghana…Their report looks at how they bring jobs and investment to Ghana…but…ignores the question of why the SABMiller brewery in Accra…has not paid any corporation tax over the last few years…They are also silent about all of the huge payments that go out of Ghana, into tax havens each year…[SABMiller says that] for every person directly employed by Voltic or ABL, a further twenty jobs are supported in Ghana…[and that SABMiller makes] direct contributions of US$ 22.2 m…[ActionAid comments that] the company can’t claim credit for all of these jobs. The ‘further 20 jobs’ aren’t created by SABMiller, they’re mainly people doing a vaguely related job…[t]he vast majority of this amount is tax that consumers pay on their beer – not the corporation tax on SABMiller profits… [SABMiller letter available]
