Ternium's response to CREA report

...Ternium hereby provides clarification through this paper on the information contained in the report by the Center for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA)...The document presents theoretical and technically inconsistent data and does not consider or consult public health or environmental authority, providing misleading information.

The report states that the emissions from Santa Cruz reach the state of São Paulo, which is unrealistic as Ternium´s operation is almost 250 km away from São Paulo. Apart from that, the allegation that the operation would be responsible for 1,200 deaths from respiratory problems is also unfounded. Public data released by the Municipal Health Department of Rio de Janeiro demonstrates that living in Santa Cruz does not increase the mortality rate compared to other regions of the city. More than 60% of Ternium's 8,000 employees live in the region, undergo rigorous annual exams, and there is no evidence of harm to workers' health.

Ternium has a valid environmental license, granted by the environmental agency, and has international control standards. Between 2017 and 2024, the company invested more than R$450 million in environmental projects and is committed to keep investing, with a forecast of R$650 million to improve environmental performance by 2030. The company reinforces its commitment to preserve the safety and health of all workers and residents where it operates.

In different judicial and administrative cases, technical expertise was carried out analyzing the impact of Ternium's industrial activities on the health of residents and all decisions released to date concluded that there are no risks and/or harm to people's health or any causal link with Ternium's operations. The company maintains a transparent relationship with the community, with a direct communication channel with the local population. The company denied CREA's false report through a publication distributed to residents of the region...
