Brazil: LaLiga sponsors face protests on social media after racist attacks on striker Vinícius Júnior

Vvale

On 21 May, Real Madrid's Brazilian striker Vinícius Júnior was the target of racist attacks by Valencia fans during a LaLiga match.

Users of Twitter and Instagram have taken to the pages of LaLiga sponsors Puma, Santander, Microsoft, EA Sports, Sorare and Panini to demand that these companies take some action regarding the racist attacks against the player, which are recurrent, even calling for a boycott of the league.

We invited the six sponsors, Real Madrid, Valencia and LaLiga to comment on what happened and the protests on social networks.

Real Madrid, Santander, Puma and Valencia have responded.

LaLiga, Microsoft, Panini, EA Sports and Sorare did not respond.

We also invite FIFA to comment on the attacks suffered by Vinícius Júnior, as well as to clarify what policies they have adopted to deal with the frequent episodes of racism that occur in championships around the world.

FIFA responded.
