Cambodia: Pig skin processing company allegedly violated environmental safety standards after repeatedly discharging untreated liquid water into public water

Minister of Environment Eang Sophallet has expressed regret and disappointment that a pig skin processing company in Stung Hav District, Preah Sihanouk Province, has once again released untreated liquid waste into public water, affecting the environment, water quality, and the lives of citizens.
The Minister announced that measures will be taken in accordance with the Environmental Code without exception.
…, the Ministry of Environment’s expert team discovered that the CS TAN CO., LTD. factory was violating the law by discharging liquid waste from the factory into a creek and pumping it to the sea.
After the ministry took action, the company removed the ditch dug for discharging liquid waste into the sea.
…, the Environmental Inspection Team inspected the CS TAN CO., LTD. site in Riththy 1 Village, Keo Phos Commune, Stung Hav District, Preah Sihanouk Province, and found that the company had removed the HDPE pipe that had previously been buried in the ground to discharge wastewater to a natural water area (Prek Nlong) located approximately 700 meters behind the factory, and had instead dug a ditch to allow water to drain into some areas near the company site that had not been properly treated according to technical standards and standards.
The Ministry of Environment team installed water quality monitoring machines at the factory outlet and downstream in Prek Kheap.
The water was still black and smelled foul, and the concentration of toxic substances exceeded the standard…
