LPP S.A.'s response to allegations of abuses in Myanmar garment factories

We have been observing the situation in Burma with concern for over a year and a half.

We are in contact with other brands and we try to monitor the situation in the factories.

However, due to the lack of a local office, we rely on information from our suppliers.

Analyzing the data you have sent I can confirm that we do have cooperation with 3 or the 4 factories you mention.

  1. Unifa Handbag
  2. Myanmar Bestex
  3. Huiyuan

Having checked all the allegations you mention in below e-mail I have decided to run a thorough and urgent external 3rd party audit in all 3 factories.

The process has already started, therefore as soon as I receive more information I will get back to you immediately.

UPDATE:

LPP SA has conducted a thorough external audits in all 3 factories...

Every audit process includes opening meeting, factory tour, document review (from last 12 months) and management interview, workers’ interview, pre-closing meeting and closing meeting.

Factory received Corrective Action Plan with detected violations and recommended corrective actions.

Conducted audits do not confirmed mentioned cases of alleged abuse at all 3 factories.

Detailed results have been presented to Business & Human Rights Resource Centre coordinators.
