[PDF] Further information on UA 138/15 Chad - Activist put on trial, awaits verdict

Chadian activist Djeralar Miankeol went on trial on 30 June. The verdict is expected to be announced on 7 July. He is a prisoner of conscience. Activist Djeralar Miankeol, Director of Association Ngaoubourandi (ASNGA), was detained from 15 to 22 June at the prison of Moundou. Because he was showing symptoms including a high fever, his lawyers and family asked on 21 June that a doctor examine him. Two days later he was admitted to the regional hospital of Moundou with severe malaria and typhoid. Djeralar Miankeol’s trial began on 30 June. When it was over, the President of the High Court of Justice announced that the court’s decision would be communicated to the parties on 7 July. Djeralar Miankeol and his family have asked for their thanks to be passed to all those who took action on his behalf, and would like to ask them to send more appeals.
