Snapshot: A former worker filed a lawsuit against PJSC Inhulets Mining and Processing Plant (iron ore), seeking compensation for moral damage caused by occupational diseases. The court ordered the company to pay UAH300,000 in compensation. The case is closed.

The plaintiff worked at PJSC Inhulets Mining and Processing Plant (iron ore) in Ukraine, for an extended period, during which he developed chronic occupational illnesses. Following an evaluation by the Medical‑Social Expert Commission, he was found to have a 65% permanent loss of professional capacity—50% attributed to radiculopathy and 15% to siderosilicosis—and was classified as having a third‑degree disability.

As a consequence of these occupational diseases, his normal way of life has been significantly disrupted. He suffers from constant pain, is unable to engage in his usual activities, and experiences ongoing anxiety regarding his health and life, all of which cause him significant emotional distress.

On 17 July 2024, he filed a lawsuit against PJSC Inhulets Mining and Processing Plant and sought UAH400,000 in compensation for moral damage caused by occupational diseases.

On 14 October 2024, the Inhuletskyi District Court of Kryvyi Rih partially satisfied the claim. It ordered PJSC Inhuletskyi Mining and Processing Plant to pay UAH300,000 for moral damage to the plaintiff, without deductions for personal income tax or other mandatory payments.

The case is closed.
