The holistic view of the supply chain is an important element of the REWE Group sustainability strategy. Particularly in the supply chain stages of raw material cultivation and processing, REWE Group has been working intensively for years to ensure that there is no room for disregard of labour, social and environmental standards. Our guidelines and the Code of Conduct define a binding framework for business relations with contractual partners in REWE Group's private label supply chains. The REWE Group Code of Conduct, the "Declaration of Principles on Human Rights" and all guidelines (including fairness, living wages and income, women in the supply chain or prevention of child labour) can be found at: https://www.rewe-group.com/en/sustainability/strategy/guidelines/
Compliance with our requirements is monitored, among other things, by conducting audits or risk assessments, such as Global GAP GRASP, Rainforest Alliance or Fairtrade.

Making supply chains fairer is a particular focus of REWE Group. In this regard, we are guided by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations, the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) on labour and social standards, the UN Global Compact as well as the UN conventions on children's rights and the elimination of all discrimination against women. In its Fairness Guideline, REWE Group also clearly commits to strengthening human rights, improving working conditions and promoting fair trade within the supply chains of all REWE, PENNY and toom Baumarkt private label products.

REWE Group systematically analyses the risks of human rights violations in its supply chains and continuously adapts its strategy and measures. REWE Group's concrete prevention and remediation measures include procurement strategies for the purchase of certified raw materials, the implementation of social and ecological projects in countries of origin, inspections and training of production sites, and the development of an independent grievance mechanism system for relevant supply chains by 2025.

The open dialogue with stakeholders, NGOs and politics as well as the cross-sectoral cooperation in special working groups supports us in actively reflecting on and optimizing our work. All these points, coupled with close cooperation with suppliers, production sites and raw material production, ensure that we increase transparency along our supply chains, implement requirements and measures in a targeted manner and better control risks. This applies to all supply chains of our food and non-food own brands.
