Russia: RUSAL Ural Aluminum accused of polluting air, water & soil

The following violations were identified:
- carrying out waste disposal activities at waste disposal sites in the presence of excess concentrations of pollutants in ground and surface waters, soils and grounds;
- providing distorted information about emission sources located at the site of negative environmental impact (NEI);
- emission of pollutants in violation of the conditions of a special permit;
- allowing the storage of production waste in unauthorized places, without equipping special sites and allowing the littering of the production area with production and consumption waste, etc.
Based on the results of the control (supervisory) activity, the enterprise was issued an order to eliminate the identified violations. JSC RUSAL Ural will be brought to administrative responsibility for failure to comply with the requirements of the environmental legislation of the Russian Federation.
