Sanctions Pass US House

The US House of Representatives on Tuesday approved its version of a bill to impose sanctions on the Burmese military regime. The sanctions will remain in place until opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi is released and the junta holds democratic elections. The 418-2 vote comes one month after the Senate approved similar legislation...President George W Bush...is expected to sign the legislation, called the "Burmese Freedom and Democracy Act."
