Test case could lead to billions being claimed from mines [So. Africa]

A test case that could open the floodgates to compensation claims by thousands of workers injured in South African mines is to go to court this week...The case, against Anglo Gold Ashanti...South African attorneys Charles Abrahams and Richard Spoor said that over the past 100 years thousands of mine workers had contracted diseases known to be caused by exposure to the dust and gases common in the mining industry...[Spoor] is also representing Limporo communities against Anglo Platinum.
