UK: 30 workers employed by Mitie at Vauxhall plant vote to strike over 'poverty pay'

In December 2021, 30 workers employed my Mitie at a Vauxhall factory in cleaning roles and the jig and tool departments voted to strike over pay. According to Unite the Union, Mitie paid workers as little as £9 an hour, and refused to make a pay increase anywhere near what workers were calling for.

A few days later, Unite announced the strike had been suspended, after an agreement was reached over pay. However, the union warned that if further discussions over outstanding issues, including shift premiums, job grading and holiday entitlements failed, new strikes would be scheduled.
