UVA Student Council Condemns Oil Company for Ties to Slavery, Urges Board to Act [USA]

The University of Virginia Student Council unanimously passed a resolution last night calling for the University to immediately divest its $2 million of stock in Unocal, a California-based energy company. Student Council condemned Unocal for contracting with the Burmese military, an institution that regularly murders, rapes, and enslaves its citizens for infrastructure development projects.
