西芒杜贏聯盟（Winning Consortium Simandou）表示正在努力解決環境方面的擔憂。
先前，非政府組織「社區替代倡議」（Advocates for Community Alternatives）發布研究，指出西芒杜項目建設與水土污染有關。
該公司在周五回應記者提問時表示，“西芒杜贏聯盟承諾在幾內亞法規及國際標準框架下負責任地開發項目。我們將繼續致力於確保該項目為幾內亞人民創造可持續且包容性的利益。”
本週早些時候，總部位於倫敦的力拓公司（Rio Tinto Plc）表示：「我們完全承諾透過預防、緩解和補償措施將營運影響降至最低，並嚴格遵守國家法律與國際標準。」力拓與中國鋁業（Aluminum Corp. of China）共同控制西芒杜項目的三號與四號礦區。
