Since their endorsement 15 years ago, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) have served as the global reference framework for state duties, corporate responsibilities, and access to remedy. Their voluntary nature has exposed some limitations, prompting states, civil society, and international bodies to explore hard‑law pathways to strengthen corporate liability and access to remedy for people affected by corporate harm, including the binding treaty on business and human rights.

Ahead of the 12th session of the intergovernmental working group this October, this webinar organised by BHRC and EQUIDAD Peru will set the stage for a forward‑looking discussion on corporate legal accountability, including the evolution of mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence (mHREDD) initiatives, as well as the potential of a treaty on communities' access to remedy.
