3 actions business can take on climate change in advance of the Paris summit

"Business Engagement ahead of the UN Climate Change Summit – Conference of the Parties (COP) 21", 6 Nov 2015

1. Engage with one or more collaborative action platforms

When businesses  come together to address challenges collectively , the greatest impact can be achieved. A  number of high - potential initiatives and program me s are underway  that aim to accelerate emissions reductions in  specific value chains, sectors, technologies or processes, and  which you are encouraged to join. More information  on these is attached or available at:  http://wemeanbusinesscoalition.org/corporate-engagement

2. Showcase your commitment in NAZCA

With the support of the UN, the Peruvian COP20 President created a portal called the Non-State Actor Zone for Climate Action (NAZCA)in which individual companies may register their projects. If you have made a public commitment via your annual Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)disclosure or via the UN Global Compact through business.un.org then this will be included automatically. If you wish to signal a new commitment that is not part of one of the collaborative initiatives above, you can do so via one of the data partners listed on the NAZCA portal (UN Global Compact or CDP): http://climateaction.unfccc.int/

3. Sign the Paris Pledge for Action

Laurent Fabius, President of COP 21 and Foreign Minister of France, is calling for businesses, investors, cities, regions and others to come together in an unprecedented way to pledge to take climate action to ensure the objectives of the Paris Agreement are met or exceeded. This Pledge, (which is attached) will be unveiled publicly during the negotiations and should be regarded as confidential until then. It is intended to give collective visibility to the willingness of businesses, investors, cities, regions and others to be part of the solution to climate change.
