On the 28 February 2026, there was a clash between residents and private security personel hired by Gener 2. Gener 2 is a company in charge of developing land in Rrjol, Albania into a tourist resort. The land had allegedly been confiscated from the residents of Rrjol. Proceedings were initiated against 24 individuals that were residents of Rrjol on charges including destruction of property, resisting police officers and intentional serious injury which they reject and claim that the police used force against them. Of the 24 individuals, 15 residents presented themselves to police after being declared wanted and two people were arrested. By mid-March, prosecutors had imposed measures on 15 protesters: 10 must report regularly to police and are barred from approaching the construction site, while five remain wanted.

On the 14 March 2026, residents and other activists came to protest the development. The residents allege that there were acts of violence carried out against them by police with some arrests made.
