Armenia: Environmental NGOs analyses show alarming impacts of mining on health of nearby communities

In 2021, Czech NGO ARNIKA together with partners from Armenia, Center for Community Mobilization and Support NGO (CCMS) and EcoLur Informational NGO, continued mapping environmental pollution in Tumanyan and Stepanavan areas, Armenia, which has been ongoing since 2018. A comprehensive study covering a four-year period monitored the presence of heavy metals and persistent organic pollutants. Analyses were carried out on samples taken from soil, dust, food, as well as urine and hair samples taken directly from local residents.
