Banco do Brasil response on financing agricultural companies linked to environmental and indigenous rights violations

...BB's Sustainability Guidelines provide for compliance with social and environmental criteria in the analysis and conduction of the credit, including the presentation of documents that prove the regularity of the enterprises and the prohibition of rural credit to third party activities in indigenous lands, using a tool that verifies the overlapping of the land to be financed with indigenous lands, quilombolas, Conservation Units and areas embargoed, deforested or irregularly burned. The instruments have clauses that allow the decree of early maturity and the suspension of disbursements in case of socio-environmental violations. Banco do Brasil refrains from commenting on operations and services provided, in respect for banking, commercial and corporate secrecy. Examples of the practical application of our socioenvironmental diligence can be found on the BB's sustainability page: https://ri.bb.com.br/governanca-e-sustentabilidade/sustentabilidade/...
