Bangladesh: Garment factory announces mass layoffs due to reduced orders from buyers; incl. co. responses

In December 2023, it was reported that Crony Tex Sweater had announced mass layoffs, due to reduced orders.

In March 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Boohoo, Lidl, MANGO and Matalan to respond. The responses can be found below.

Crony Tex Sweater Ltd, a readymade garment (RMG) factory, has announced a mass layoff of its sweater section till 7 February citing a decrease in purchase orders, resulting in panic among its 800 workers.
