Bangladesh: Workers staged days-long strike at two Habiganj tea gardens over unpaid wages and other demands, incl. co. responses

In July-August 2023, it was reported that workers at the Bawani (sometimes written as Bhabani) and Imam tea gardens were staging strikes and protests over unpaid wages, and other demands including related to housing and medical allowances. The Business and Human Rights Resource Centre asked Unilever, a buyer from Imam Tea Estate according to its most recently available supplier list. Lipton (formerly ekaterra) took over most of Unilever's tea business in 2022 so the Resource Centre also sought a response from Lipton. Lipton and Unilever both stated that they do not source from Imam Tea Estate. Full responses are included below.
