BBC hands back RTS award for Panorama programme on Primark [UK]

The BBC has handed back the Royal Television Society award it won for a Panorama documentary on Primark's working practices after the BBC Trust found "serious failings" in one section of the programme...Primark] lodged a complaint about footage in a Bengaluru workshop in which three boys were described as testing stitching on Primark garments. The [BBC Trust's editorial standards committee] said evidence showed "it was more likely than not that the footage was not genuine"...In its ruling the trust...ordered the BBC to apologise on air before last week's Panorama episode...The BBC said on Monday that it had "apologised for including a short section of film which could not be authenticated in the programme"...Primark said that millions of viewers had been "deceived" by Panorama.
