"Strengthening .ORG for the future," 16 Dec 2019

Ethos Capital’s acquisition of Public Interest Registry, the operator of the .ORG domain, has spurred healthy discussion about the future of .ORG... [W]e want to provide as much as we can while recognizing that we are still in the midst of a process and not yet the owners of .ORG... Ethos and PIR are committed to meeting the highest standards of corporate governance. The concept behind our proposal for a Public Interest Registry Stewardship Council is to put in place a .ORG community advisory body.  The Council will seek input from the .ORG community and convey the needs of the .ORG community to PIR management, provide advice to PIR leadership on key matters impacting the .ORG community, and be a leading voice in recommending new services and capabilities to be offered... We are committed to limit increases for .ORG domain registration prices to no more than 10 percent, per year, on average.  Based on domain prices today, a 10% increase would equate to an additional $1 per year... PIR takes freedom of expression very seriously and the registry’s commitment to free speech will continue unabated... Ethos has stated on multiple occasions that we are committed to invest in PIR for the long haul.  Our investors include families and nonprofit organizations with long-term investment horizons.
